If you have oily skin then you know exactly how hard it is to find the right foundation that works right for your skin. Granted there are a lot of oil control primers on the market to help with oil control and good oil free moisturizers that can help as well but I haven’t really experienced much with primers, i don’t like a lot of layers of products on my face. I find that most foundations leave my face very shiny and oily after a couple of hours and I find myself applying power or blotting paper throughout the day.
Last year I came across a review on the Maybelline “Fit Me” foundations and I decided to grab one at the drug store to give it a try. My first good impression was the price, its very affordable at just under $6 which is amazing for the quality of this drug store foundation. I picked the “Matte + Powerless” since I have oily skin on and around my nose. I was pleasantly surprised by the quality of this foundation, it’s light weight, it’s buildable coverage from light to medium coverage for me. It is matte but not the dry kind of matte, if you’ve used matte foundations then you’ll know what i’m talking about. This foundation is perfect for me, I like it so much that i used it every day and hardly reach for my Mac or higher end foundations, I like it for everyday wear. So, if you have normal to oily skin or combination skin and looking for a drug store but good quality foundation then I would give this a try. For lasting power this foundation lasts all day for me. I wear it to work for 12 hours and it stays matte for at least 8 hours without oxidizing but at the end of my shift, I do notice a little shine around my nose and t-zone area but nothing too bad where I need to powder or blot it away. So for an everyday foundation I love it so much!
For special occasions or if I’m going out and need fuller coverage i’ve been loving the Make Up For Ever “Mat Velvet +” this is a very Matte foundation. It’s oil free and water resistant so it’s great for people with normal to oily skin that want a matte finish. I picked it up at Sephora for $39 and it has a very nice matte finish. It doesn’t feel caky, dry or heavy on the skin. I also use it in combination with my Maybelline Fit me, I use a buffing brush to apply the Fit Me foundation all over and use the Mat Velvet over my dark spots or areas I need more coverage using a beauty blender.
